Vietnam’s young pickleball superstar Quang Duong is back to his winning ways after capturing two titles—in the men’s singles and mixed doubles—and bagging a silver medal in the Monsoon Pickleball Championship 3.0 in the recently concluded Mumbai, India.

The international competition drew over 800 picklers from across the world and had a prize pool of USD $60,000. It began on 31 July 2025 and finished on 3 August 2025.

Duong was particularly impressive in the men’s singles category, where he raced out to five wins in five matches on the event’s first day. Duong’s brilliant run catapulted him into the men’s singles finals opposite local favourite Aditya Ruhela. The hometown bet, however, was no match against the Vietnamese sensation, who dominated in a straight-sets sweep to secure his first gold of the tournament.

Duong added another gold medal later in the final day of the competition when he and partner Harsh Mehta of India swept Rob Nunnery and Ryler Deheart in the final of the men’s doubles. Mehta, the men’s doubles champion in the 2025 Panas Malaysia Open, proved to be a perfect partner for Duong as his quickness and ferocity meshed superbly with the Vietnam star’s technical proficiency.

Duong also bagged a silver medal in the mixed doubles, where he teamed up with Emilia Schmidt. The two met the husband-and-wife tandem of Megan and Ryler in the final, where the Dehearts outlasted Duong and Schmidt, 11-10, 7-11, 9-11. This heartbreaking loss meant Duong narrowly missed out on what would have been an impressive Triple Crown.

Quang Duong, who is only just 19, is widely regarded as Asia’s top pickleball player at the moment. In fact, he had been competing in the US in the PPA Tour and MLP in the previous years until he was unceremoniously let go due to what the UPA described as repeated violations of the uniform player’s contract.
