Singapore is getting a new pickleball court soon—and this time, it will be courtesy of the government, specifically the Chua Chu Kang GRC.
The new pickleball court will be built near The Bricks, a sports facility at Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7, in the first quarter of 2026.
This was announced over the weekend when the four newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) spoke to the media at People’s Action Party-held (PAP) Group Representation Constituency. The four MPs—Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng, Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow, Dr Choo Pei Ling, and Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim—introduced various initiatives that have been completed or are currently ongoing since the party won Chua Chu Kang GRC in the 2025 General Election.
Of course, building said pickleball court was just one of the many projects the MPs talked about. More pressing initiatives include a constituency-wide programme in end-2025 to purchase essential items, provisions for wal-ins at the Choa Chu Kang Polyclinic, and improvements to GRC’s connectivity and transportation.
The initiatives, according to the MPs, are a response to their engagement with residents, which they said played an active part in suggesting programmes that will benefit citizens.
“We have stepped up our engagements with residents, through chit chat sessions, through regular kopi talks and dialogues. And this will extend across the entire GRC,” Dr Tan said. “I believe that … with that very constructive engagement, it becomes even more productive for us, more efficient for us to be able to carry out the initiatives that we talked about.”
It turns out, quite a number of residents wanted a pickleball court—and the government will be granting that request soon enough.
Clearly, pickleball is picking up quite nicely even in Singapore.
